Tango Dojo
Other Logistics
Before getting into a description of Tango Dojo, I'd like to share with you some of the dancers who inspire me in this dance. As this is a topic unto itself, please click here for a description of the dancers and example videos. Back to the reguarly scheduled description of Tango Dojo. Tango Dojo is an all-level, no partner required class. I teach out of the Nuevo Tango, open embrace, vocabulary. If there is enough student interested, I'm also willing to teach close embrace. I emphasize connection, posture, and awareness while teaching Nuevo Tango. I teach to both classic and Nuevo tango music. The goal is to create an environment where people can simultaneously develop their quality of motion and vocabulary. I have chosen to teach the fundamentals to all-levels because of my experiences in the martial arts. Almost all classes I attended were all-level. As a student and instructor, I have found tremendous value in the all-level classes. As a less experienced student, I have found it tremendously helpful to have more experienced people in the class with me as they demonstrated what was possible and were more able to give quality feedback. As a more experienced student, working with less experienced students forced me to think about and answer questions I hadn't thought of before and helped me to more thoroughly understand my technique. As an instructor, the all-level class helps less experienced students learn faster and gives more experienced students a chance to share their knowledge and refine their fundamental technique. In my opinion, the all-level class is a total win-win. If you are a more experienced student, I will do my best to give you variations and feedback to help you expand your vocabulary and improve your quality of motion. |
